What exactly happened?
Citing a report from the Thai daily Thairath, The Economic Times said Thai authorities recovered the body of a 32-year-old American identified as Connor Michael Murphy.
The report said Murphy had reportedly begun behaving erratically before the drowning incident, though the reason remains unclear. A security staff member said he arrived in a hired vehicle, paid the driver 1,000 baht, then tried to approach another car. He was seen shouting, rolling on the road, and allegedly making prayer-like gestures before authorities were alerted.
When police arrived, authorities said he ran into a residential complex. According to ThaiRath, he then entered a nearby lake and kept swimming until he became exhausted. He disappeared in water about 10 meters deep, and rescue teams reportedly searched the lake for around 30 minutes before his body was found.
